5 Podcasts just for Truckers

Podcasts are one of the most up-and-coming forms of media around: there are at least 850,000 active podcasts running, covering everything from world news to niche historical topics to horror stories to Dungeons and Dragons. It should come as no surprise that there are plenty of podcasts for and about truckers, or that they range from comedic to informational to opinionated.

Trucker Dump

One of the most popular trucking podcasts around is called Trucker Dump, which also operates as a blog. It’s hosted by Todd McCann, who’s been a trucker since 1997, and it has been running for over 160 episodes. McCann interviews other truckers and tells stories about his time on the road, intending to be educational and also entertaining.

Trucking After Hours

Father-son duo Buck and Don Ballard host Trucking After Hours, formerly known simply as the Trucking Podcast. They’re both truckers (Buck has also been active in the industry since 1997) and they cover both the industry and cars in general. Their website mentions that they “love semi trucks, pickup trucks, rat-rods, jeeps, RVs and nearly anything automotive” and also “love stuff anyone can afford.” They aren’t always focused exclusively on trucking, but they keep an amiable and entertaining tone.

TalkCDL

Another prominent podcast is called TalkCDL and describes itself as “The Trucking Podcast from Truckers for Truckers.” This one also runs a related blog. Its hosts, Troy and Ruthann, also focus on education and entertainment, with segments covering trucking industry news and comedic lists with themes like “you might be a trucker if…” They talk to other truckers and listeners, and their website features helpful resources for truckers (links to charities, apps, and more).

The Lead Pedal Podcast for Truck Drivers

The Lead Pedal Podcast for Truck Drivers is another gem. Hosted by a man named Bruce, this podcast promotes, according to their own website, “(the) acceleration or fast-track of your career or business.” Its goal is to inform those in the transportation industry and help them have the best possible lives and careers. Active since 2015, the Lead Pedal posts at least twice a week and shares facts and interviews.

Big Rig Banter

Big Rig Banter, a podcast sponsored by AllTruckJobs.com, shares interviews with transportation industry figures. Hosted by Troy Diffenderfer and Lenay Ruhl, both of them journalists and marketing specialists, this podcast (and blog) shares stories about the industry with a healthy dose of humor.

These podcasts can be found on a variety of platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Podbean, TuneIn, Podchaser, iHeart Radio, and Player.fm.
